Beach Sailing

We should be able to start sailing on the beaches soon with the end of summer. Last year we had several great days of sailing in Wildwood, Wildwood Crest. The best wind direction for sailing in Wildwood and most Jersey Beaches is NW and SE, with the fronts coming across the country usually predictable 3-4 days in advance. A group email will be sent out announcing sailing time and date when conditions are favorable. There usually are extra carts available for a demo ride. We have been sailing from in back of the WWC beach patrol headquarters at Rambler Rd. 4 wheel drive beach permits for Wildwood Crest are $25.00, good for Oct 1. to April30.

Wildwood Group Sail Oct 20-23. 

A group of us are planning to get together for sailing, hanging out and having fun together.  Low tide is mid day and conditions in late Oct are usually favorable for sailing.

Let me know if your interested in coming. Unfortunately most of the motels are closed then and I was not able to get a group motel as in the past. There are listing on Vrbo & Airbnb, we will be sailing from Rambler Rd. There will be extra carts available for a demo ride.

Bader Field

NABSA is looking for a Insurance Co for a group policy to cover the Liability Insurance that most locations require to use for organized sailing. The site users will be required to cover most of the insurance cost. At this time some quotes have come in at $300.00 a day to cover a event site. The Insurance issue is also preventing other events besides Bader from happening. Hopping the issue is resolved soon so we can start sailing Bader again.

NABSA 

The NABSC 2023 are being organized for April 2023 at Ivanpah Dry Lake.

Loring ME, Fall Landsailing Regatta Sept 15- 18

Land Sailing event that a lot of blokart participant in. Loring site is a old B1 base that has 3mile long runways used for sailing.  Contact Bill Buchholz   bill@hilltopmidcoast.me

Thanks to the Jersey Guys, we will be allowed to sail on the Tuesday before our regular schedule begins on Wednesday, September 14. What started out as a weekend event is now nearly a week. Dan Clapp and the Gervolinos want to have some free time to sea trial their new fixed wings. There are no scheduled events for this day. Official racing will still commence Friday morning.

There might be timed speed runs on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on wind. This would be a flying mile, with runs for both classes. Details are still to be worked out, but it might be fun to post the best times up on the speed board.

Conditions in Oct have usually been favorable for sailing and with low tide Fri around noon we should have good sailing with plenty of hard pac to use for sailing. I’ll look in motels.

Bader has plenty of room for racing and practice dial up starts as well as plenty of room for individual sailing at the same time. New this year the event will also have a Team Enduro Race and possibly a individual enduro.There will be workshops on sailing  technique  and equipment.The runways and  tie down area are in excellent condition. The only  problem you might have is wearing out tires if the wind is strong and you are pushing it.

Thursday night we will plan to go to Oyster Creek Inn for dinner. http://oystercreekrestaurant.com Workshops are planned about Equipment and Sailing Skills. Dial up racing using IRBA rule and a  Team Enduro Race. Fun event such as relays, event distance champion, other ideas? The attendees set the activities. Over 30 people are attended the previous event from the US and Canada.
If you plan on bringing a guest please make sure they bring a helmet, gloves and they will have to sign a liability waiver and a safety briefing sheet. There will be a few extra blokart available for them to try blokart sailing.
All attendees must fill out a Registration/ Liability form. Please return form with payment by October 1.Registration fee $75.00 Three Days, $30.00 Single Day. BADER FIELD BLOKART SAILING, THUR JUNE 13, WINDS 15MPH

I am looking into starting the summer season of Blokart sailing at Bader Field Thur., June 13. All the paper work and NABSA Insurance for 2019 has been approved by Atlantic City. if we have enough interest I would like to plan on sailing there every other week through the summer mainly on week days.

Again this year I would like to plan a 4 day event for early Oct.with the WI,CA and new England sailors joining us.

The cost of renting the site has remained the same $300.00 a day. We usually start sailing around 9:00AM and stay until dusk, as some people join us after work. I do appreciate a reply if you are planning on attending. Please fill out the attached 2019 Bader Field waiver and email it back to me or bring it with you, it is fillable PDF form, Thank You. You are welcome to bring guest to try sailing, they must also fill out a waiver.

Are you to wear out some tires and blow the rest of the Ivanpah dust off your equipment?

Great day for sailing SW wind 15+, Low Tide 6:00 pm. Its hare to get better conditions than this forecast. the SW winds are some of the smoothest winds to sail in. Temp 60.

The Fall blokart Sailing event will be at Bader Field. Brigantine is only 3 miles from Bader Field if anyone wants to hit the beach. 

Bader has plenty of room for racing and practice dial up starts as well as plenty of room for individual sailing at the same time. New this year the event will also have a Team Enduro Race and possibly a individual enduro.There will be workshops on sailing  technique  and equipment.The runways and  tie down area are in excellent condition. The only  problem you might have is wearing out tires if the wind is strong and you are pushing it. 

                                      

I do pay a daily fee of $300.00 to rent the airport; attendees will be expected to chip in to cover site rental and other cost. 

 South West flies into Philadelphia (PHL), 64 miles from Bader Field. Atlantic City (ACY) airport is 10 miles away and has limited service. Newark is also a option for flying in.

BADER FIELD EVENT LODGING

I have a block of rooms being held for the event at the COMFORT INN West Atlantic City. They have given us good rate for the group. Booking must be made by calling the Hotel Direct  609-484-1900 and and telling the reservation clerk you are with the North American Blokart Sailing Association. Reservations must be made by  10-1.

BADER FIELD FALL 2017 OCT. 19-22

Mark the dates on your calendar, this 4 day event will be a exciting event that will have dial up start racing, clinics that will help you tune up your blokart and also sailing skills. There will be plenty of time for you to just sail if you are not the competive type,   some fun competitive events will be organized as will as the most mileage for the event challenge.
Come and sail with the "Jersey Boys" at one of their favorite sailing sites. James Day is planning on bringing fish for a fish fry and cookout one evening.

Bader Field lodging? The motel across from the airport was not the best, but it was convenient, COMMENTS? I will post lodging info soon.

WILDWOOD BLOKART SAILING. OCT

We have had some awesome days sailing here on the east coast. North West fronts have started coming in producing strong off shore winds. Some of the winds have shown how valuable having a 2m sail is. A Nastier Than Snot Day is a good day for blokart  sailing.

The Fall Wildwood blokart Sailing event is moving to Bader Field. After taking a poll of the Wildwood attendees who sail both sites it was unanimous that we have more sail time at Bader. No low tide time to work around and at Bader you can sail any wind direction with less wind. You can stay dry and no more sand to clean off your equipment. If someone still wants to sail the beach, low tide on Monday 10/13 is 1:30 PM, Brigantine is only 3 miles from Bader.

NORTH AMERICAN BLOKART SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014 IVANPAH 2014 MARCH 27 -- APRIL 3 NOW IS THE TIME TO START MAKING PLANS TO ATTEND The 2014 event is planned to be 7 days of sailing a mix of 4 days of casual sailing that anyone sail the entire Ivanpah Dry Lake or sail the practice course that will be set up for those that have the need to pass other blokart sailors. The North American Blokart Sailing Championships will also be held during 3 days of racing using IBRA rules. All participants will be expected to volunteer and help with scoring marshaling and other duties needed to run the racing. The fleet will be divided into 2 groups racing at separate times. Those you are not racing will have the rest of the dry lake to sail on. Rumor is that we will have some International attendees this year; they can't stay away from possibly one of the best land sailing sites in the world. The location is 40 miles from Las Vegas off of Interstate 15 at the CA/NV border. A group rate for lodging will be arranged at the Primm Valley Casino which borders Ivanpah Dry Lake. The rate should be around $33.00 a week night and $65.00 Fri and Sat night. South West Airlines allows 2 free bags, start looking for good fares now. More information will be posted later.
